The Marcel at Gramercy

http://www.themarcelatgramercy.com/
Gets really good reviews on tripadvisor.com
$265.00 +  Located in Gramercy Park which borders Flatiron and Chelsea.  In general, it’s important to know the Marcel is 4 streets north and a couple of avenues east.  Free Breakfast is available but there are many places to eat i the nearby vicinity and most people say it’s an awesome little hotel.  Great, pretty location & clean rooms, tho tiny.  Nice, safe neighborhood, not overly touristy.   Gramercy is home to a private park which is pretty to look at but not so nice for the non residents.  Still, it’s a neighborhood worth visiting. Lot’s of pretty brownstones and owner occupied homes take up residence here.

This is a little further but is a cute boutique hotel in midtown.  It has amazing rooftop views of the Empire State building and it’s a short walk outside to 5Th avenue shopping if you aren’t too tired after our exciting days with Francoise.  Macy’s is up the block as well for those who don’t have access to big department stores.

Mid Range:

I personally love a couple of these, but they are a little pricey depending on the room.  Many friends have stayed at several of them and all report excellent experiences.  With a trip to NYC  where you stay depends on how much time you plan on spending in your room.  They are all centrally located and in great neighborhoods in close proximity to Tricia M’s studios in Chelsea.  You may choose to jump in a cab or take a bus or subway if more than 10 blocks away.

Awesome location, beautiful rooms.  Try to book on discount sites like Hotels.com  Request specifics directly to the hotel itself.  Users say the rooms are small but that’s not uncommon in NYC.

Highline Hotel

One of the more recent additions to Chelsea is the fabulous Highline Hotel on 10th Ave.  It’s located 4 Avenues straight west from Tricia M. Florals studio.  Rooms are gorgeous & the amazing Highline (also described here www.thehighline.org/), is directly across the street.  It is also home to NYC Chelsea art galleries if you are interested in gallery hopping after your amazing day with Francoise!  The flowering shrubs are beginning to blossom in April as Spring is here and it’s a great time to visit this exceptional solution to reviving of the old tracks.

$250 and up.

Flower District Hotels:

These are on 28th Street or nearby, where the flower market still remains.  It can be a bit noisy on the lower floors- but that’s pretty much the case anywhere in Manhattan.  Looks a little grungy on the streets because the flower vendors spill out during the day and it’s a crowded street during the early part of the day but perfectly harmless- just a revive area in progress- nothing unusual in NYC.  8 short blocks to Tricia M. Studio.  Basic and expected family hotels.
